Officer James H. Turner graduated from the Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers Training Academy in 1989. He has served with the Ackerman Police Department and also served 10 years as the Chief of Police for the Maben, MS Police Department. Officer Turner also worked as a deputy sheriff for Choctaw County MS. He came to the MSU Police Department in February 2008 with 19 years of experience. His hobbies include hunting, fishing, and coaching and umpiring Little League baseball.
